Wow, J.D made this one complicated! I need to know if the tractor is 2wd, 4wd, and if it has factory hydraulic outlets to get the correct ser. # and year combo from the book. Ser. # is located on rear trans. case, below PTO shaft. If you can post the # and specs I can tell you what year it is. It would be a large task to reproduce the 31 different possibilities from the book.

Bo, you should be O.K. with the existing wiring, and it should already be protected at the fuse box. The only problem you may have is battery drawdown with all the lights on. The 870's alternator will put out 20 amps at full throttle only. At idle they put out almost nothing. I've had this problem with add-on cabs with extra lights, heaters, etc. Hopefully one more light than factory spec. wont cause you any problems, but I'm sure if you ad any more you will run out of juice. Scott, Assuming your 801 has a completely hydraulic loader(not the trip bucket type) I would estimate the value to be around $4500 in the West. Sounds like it may be a 861 because it has power steering. 5spd? two stage clutch? Ford had a number of models in the 801 family, based on how the tractor was equiped. Check right behind the starter on the casting for model designation and ser.#. The 861 was the top of the line in the 801 family and is generally more sought after and has the best resale value. I'm not a certified expert on old Fords, but I'm sure someone else will be glad to ad their thoughts as well. One thing I do know is those tractors never sit around for more than a week or two on my lot. Good luck, Don in OR. J.D. Dlr.

Vince is definately on to something here. Dealers will often push shortline attachments because they can hold a higher margin and still be less than name brand. One word of caution, most low rate financing programs offered by major manufacturers are for their brand only. Any savings gained by buying cheaper shortline products could be lost by having to pay higher interest on the whole package. On the other hand, some shortline attachments are superior in quality than name brand. Thorough comparisons are the best way to see which is the best value, regardless of price. Good luck.

Jim, Check with your local dealer. The kit should still be available for the 1050. If memory serves, it will probably cost upwards of $1,000. And yes, you do need it with a loader. Without it, not too many people could turn the wheel unless the tractor is moving.

Bruce, Roger hit it right on the head. Try increasing engine R.P.M. first, A little more throttle may be enough to make your hyd. pump keep up. J.D struggled with this problem and has recently added a regenerative circuit on the SCV's on certain models. To get rig of air once you've got it, cycle the cylinders like you said, but hold pressure at end of stroke for five seconds, both directions. This is called "phasing" the cylinders and should force air and gasses out.Good luck.
